Celebrate Veteran's Day
Read about the history of Veteran's Day to know about why we celebrate it. According to http://www.military.com/veterans-day/history-of-veterans-day.htm--Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I. In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the 83rd U.S. Congress. On June 1, 1954, Nov. 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
Find a veteran of any war and thank him for his service. You could pay for a coffee for a man in uniform behind you. Just saying thank you for what you have done gives an amazing feeling and teaches your family to be respectful of veterans
Invite a veteran to speak at your civic club, your church or community group. Call your local VFW for ideas on who to ask and who to honor. Go to your local VFW and offer to volunteer or ask if there is anyway to help local Veteran's. Many times there are fundraisers or garage sales in which to participate that help out veteran's in need.
Give to the Disabled Veteran's organization when they call. Give used clothing, kitchen appliances, or furniture. All proceeds go to benefiting disabled veterans.
Buy a Poppy. The poppy itself continues to serve as a perpetual tribute to those who have given their lives for the nation's freedom. Donations help veterans, veteran's widows and families.
